Dr. Jeff Citty, Ed.D.
Director, UF Innovation Academy
Jeff Citty serves as the founding director for the Innovation Academy and has over fifteen years of experience in higher education in building programmatic solutions to help solve issues in higher education. He received his Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration, focusing his dissertation on retaining engineering students through first year extended bridge programs. Dr. Citty provides vision, leadership and strategic direction in the development and attainment of the Innovation Academy priorities. As the founding director of the program he oversees all curricular and co-curricular aspects of the program as well as building the institutional infrastructure for the program. Dr. Citty teaches the Creativity in Context course and continues research in retention and advising. Before joining the Innovation Academy, Dr. Citty served as Assistant Director for Undergraduate Student Affairs at UF’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and as the Program Director for the Engineering Freshman Transition Program (EFTP). In 2009, he was recognized by the National Academic Advising Association with an award for Outstanding Advising. Additionally, he was recognized by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) as a runner-up for best conference paper in 2012.
Ayesha Mian M.ED.
Assistant Director, UF Innovation Academy
Ayesha has an extensive student affairs background, with close to fifteen years of experience working with student residential populations and programs. She is originally from Pakistan and has been in the U.S. for over sixteen years, eight of which have been spent at the University of Florida. Ayesha received her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Communication from the University of Arizona and earned a Master’s in College Student Personnel Administration from Kansas State University.
Academic Coordinator, UF Innovation Academy
Professor Bucciarelli is the Academic Coordinator for the Innovation Academy Innovation minor courses. Prior to joining the IA team full-time, Bucciarelli was a lecturer for the IA creativity courses and has taught with the IA program since its inception in 2012. She was also on faculty with the UF Center for Arts in Medicine where she was engaged in course curriculum development, research, publication, and lecturing for their internationally recognized online graduate program. Before entering academics, Bucciarelli practiced as a board certified art therapist for 10 years doing clinical work in medical settings and mental health facilities. Bucciarelli’s diverse interdisciplinary background informs the academic mission of IA – to provide students with an innovation education that helps to cultivate strong Gator graduates who will be competitive leaders in the workplace and beyond.
IA Academic Advisor
Brittany is a proud alumnus of the University of Florida, and achieved her Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology in 2009, after moving to Gainesville from South Florida. Currently she is pursuing her M.Ed in Student Personnel in Higher Education. In 2012, she started working in the Office of Admissions here at the University of Florida, where she recruited freshman applicants, processed readmissions and traveled for college fairs from Miami to Atlanta to represent UF. Beginning in December 2013, she developed a proactive advising model for her students in the Innovation Academy. This includes high contact, being knowledgeable of all campus resources, and accessible every day for questions and concerns. When they win, she wins that is her philosophy. Her StrengthsQuest top 5 are: Communication, Positivity, Strategic, Woo and Achiever. In her free time she loves to spend time with her kids and husband, and be near the water whether scuba diving or out on a boat. Go IA Gators!
IA Academic Advisor
Xavier is a Miami native, a proud Florida alumnus (BA in English, BM in Music 2011), and is committed to helping students realize their creative potential. Before joining IA, Xavier recruited the world’s brightest and best student leaders, learners, and thinkers to the Gator Nation. In his spare time, Xavier enjoys spending time with family, grilling, traveling, and Gator sports. He is currently enrolled in the Thomas S. Johnson Master of Science in Entrepreneurship program through the UF Hough Graduate School of Business.
Administrative Support Assistant
Jacolyn is from Albany, NY where she spent eight years working in the administrative assistant field. She moved to Gainesville in 2010 and began working at UF as a Senior Secretary for the College of Medicine. Jacolyn has since joined the Innovation Academy team as Dr. Citty’s Senior Secretary. Jacolyn’s duties include office management for the team and she serves as a resource for students, parents, and UF departments to share their questions with. In her free time she likes to read, workout, spend time at the beach and hike trails with her dog.
