What year are you?
What is the one innovation you can’t live without?
Earphones. They are so personal to me. I use them everyday to listen to lectures, music, movies, etc. They mean a lot to me and keep me from being distracted from outside noises and people.
It is 2 p.m. Saturday. Where are you, and what are you doing?
I am studying at the McGrogan Room (our IA room). I absolutely live here. The boards are so helpful in drawing out concepts in my upper elective classes.
What are your goals at UF?
I have many goals, but my one goal at UF is to complete 200 hours of community service (in a semester) to receive the Presidential Award.
What innovative projects are you currently working on or want to work on?
I am currently working on my senior project with a team for my last class for my minor. We are working on a health app catered towards college students.
Why did you choose to attend IA? How has it enhanced your college experience so far?
I chose to attend IA because I find their academic calendar and curriculum unique and has helped me stand out in applying to positions such as research, dental volunteering, and jobs. I have gained interpersonal skills, social skills, and the ability to network effectively. I have gained a whole network from people in the nutritional field, to sustainability. This will help me in my professional career, since it's not only who you know but WHO knows you.
What are you involved in here on campus? (Clubs, organizations, hobbies, interests)
Previously, I served as the Chief Operating Office for Kappa Alpha Theta. I also served last year as the Secretary for Innovation Academy Ambassadors. I am also a member of the pre-dental honor society Delta Delta Sigma.
What is one piece of advice you would give to incoming IA freshmen?
Say yes to new opportunities. Even if you end up not enjoying it at all, that is ONE thing you can cross off your list of things you never want to do. It took me awhile to finalize my goal at UF and focus on organizations that will better my professional career after graduation. So say YES!
How do you plan to spend your fall semester(s)?
I spend my fall semesters conducting research at the College of Dentistry and volunteering at ACORN Dental clinic. (my passion is dentistry!)
