What is Launch?
Launch Into IA is the spring convocation for Innovation Academy students and takes place at the beginning of January, with this year’s launch falling on January 3rd from 9:30am – 12:00pm. The event kicks off the academic year by bringing all of the incoming IA students together to welcome them to the university. Launch Into IA is the first time the entire IA cohort will convene and the event celebrates the class’s entry into the University of Florida.
Attendance at Launch Into IA is required for all incoming first-year IA students. The Innovation Academy also encourages family members of new students who are interested in attending Launch Into IA to do so. Seating arrangements will be provided. For more information about Launch into IA, please get in touch with us via our Contact page.
Last year we recorded Launch Into IA. Click here to watch us kick off 2017 with our fifth cohort!
Although Launch Into IA is required for all incoming IA students, incoming IA students still need to fill out the registration form to guarantee we have correct shirt sizes for students and enough space and refreshments for all family members attending.REGISTER HERE
Launch Into IA 2017
This year we expect Launch Into IA to be bigger and better than ever before! Incoming students will get a chance to hear from IA Director Dr. Jeff Citty, current IA students and keynote speaker, Julia Landauer. Incoming students and their families are invited to join us Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 at 9:00am in the University Auditorium. Business casual dress is requested. The event will be held in the University Auditorium. Students please keep checking your Gatorlink Email for more information.
We are excited to have keynote speaker Julia Landauer at Launch Into IA this year. Julia Landauer is a multiple time championship-winning racecar driver from New York City. Since making history at the age of 14 as the youngest and first female driving champion from the Skip Barber Racing Series, Julia has explored and won in all types of racing, from go-karts, to formula cars, to stock cars. After becoming the first female NASCAR Track Champion in her division at Motor Mile Speedway in 2015, Julia moved up and is currently racing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, with races televised on NBCSN.
In addition to racing every season since she was 10, Julia graduated from Stanford University in 2014, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, and Society. In that program Julia studied business, engineering, marketing, and how modern technology can be applied to racing.
Taking what she learned at school and from the racing industry, Julia has spent over five years purposefully building her brand where technology, community and racing intersect and fuse. Her active, engaging, and enthusiastic personality (which has earned her numerous professional speaking engagements), her on-track success and her strong understanding of what partners of the sport need, make Julia the ideal racer to attract new fans and sponsors to the sport.
Now settled in North Carolina, “the heart of NASCAR,” Julia is making her name synonymous with more than speed and grit; as she climbs the NASCAR ladder Julia uses her racing platform to continue advocating for STEM education, women’s empowerment, and for following your dreams despite the hurdles.
