Innovation Academy to Collaborate with Cox Enterprises for Annual Catalyst Summer Showcase
By Morgan Witt
The University of Florida Innovation Academy will hold the 11th annual Catalyst summer showcase in collaboration with the COX Enterprises campus at the end of Summer A and Summer B.
The University of Florida Innovation Academy (IA) strives to provide its students with unique opportunities designed to equip them with the 21st-century skills needed to thrive in an innovative culture.
COX Enterprises is a leading global company in the field of innovation that implements a unique human-centered design approach to solving problems. The dynamic environment of IA mirrors COX Enterprises’ commitment to exploring cutting-edge ideas, creating an exciting intersection where mutual interests in innovation converge.
Back in February, Dr. Jeff Citty, director of IA, Joanna Barousse, assistant director of IA, and Dr. Diane Porter-Roberts, academic coordinator, had the opportunity to meet with members of the Human-Centered Design (HCD) team at the COX Enterprises campus in Atlanta, Georgia. Amit Vyas, vice president of team member experience as well as UF alum, Brian Anderson, senior director of the HCD program, and Amy Lin, director of the HCD program and user experience, collaborated with our IA team members to brainstorm ideas for the “How might we?” question guiding IA’s Summer 2023 Catalyst Challenge.
Together, they arrived at the question, “How might we reach zero waste at the COX Enterprises campus in Atlanta, Georgia, by 2024?”
Catalyst is IA’s summer showcase that serves as a launching point to empower students to extend their innovative ideas beyond the boundaries of the classroom and apply them to their communities. Family, friends, fellow innovators, and the wider Gainesville community will have the opportunity to see 35 student-produced prototypes as potential solutions to the proposed question.
